Vertical AI: $3.5 Billion for AI Built for One Industry, and Eight Domains to Match

Six glowing gold industry icons for law, health, education, agriculture, construction and payroll linked to one AI chip on black marble

General AI assistants help with a wide range of tasks, but a growing share of spending goes to AI built for one industry: software that understands legal documents, patient records or construction schedules. According to Menlo Ventures, enterprises spent $3.5 billion on vertical AI solutions in 2025, nearly three times the $1.2 billion of 2024, out of $37 billion spent on generative AI overall.

This article looks at where industry-specific AI is growing, with figures and their sources, and introduces eight domains for AI products in law, healthcare, education, agriculture, construction and payroll.

Figures last checked: October 2026.

1. Healthcare leads vertical AI

Healthcare captures nearly half of all vertical AI spending, about $1.5 billion in 2025 (Menlo Ventures). Regulators are approving AI tools at a growing rate: the number of AI-enabled medical devices approved by the US FDA rose from six in 2015 to 223 in 2023 (Stanford AI Index 2025).

2. Legal is the next large market

Menlo Ventures puts legal AI at about $650 million in 2025. In a survey of 2,275 professionals, Thomson Reuters found that respondents expect professionals using AI to save 5 hours a week within a year, and it estimates a combined $32 billion annual impact for the US legal and accounting sectors (Thomson Reuters, June 2025).

3. Why a vertical name helps

Industry buyers search in their own words: a law firm looks for legal AI, a care provider for patient tools. A name that states the industry and the job tells them at once that the product was built for them. The names below follow that idea: six descriptive .com names, and two single words on .ai, where the extension adds the AI meaning to a short industry term.

Eight names across six industries: two for law, two for healthcare, and one each for education, agriculture, construction and payroll.
